Using a local area network (LAN) connection and Windows Media Connect
technology ver.2 or better, your RX-Z11 network-enabled receiver allows
you to play MP3, WMA and WAV music from up to four (4) PC's. The
Network Receiver feature also provides the ability to listen to any of
the thousands of stations available on Internet radio when connected to
a broadband Internet connection. By using the included MP3 vTuner data
service that is enabled, looking for content on the Internet couldn't

Big
home audio for big audio areas — THX Ultra2 Plus
Your new RX-Z11 is certifiably designed to deliver the ultimate
home-theater experience — that is, it's THX Ultra2 Plus
certified. This certification is reserved for receivers that have the
power to deliver sound to a wide viewing area in large home theaters
and media rooms. The recommended room size for THX Ultra2 Plus
certified AV receivers is 3,000 cubic feet or larger, with a minimum
12-foot viewing distance from the video display to the primary seating
positions. THX Ultra2 Plus certified receivers include a number of
proprietary THX technologies, including THX Surround EX and THX
Loudness Plus. Each technology is designed to compensate for the
acoustical errors that occur when movies, music and games are
translated from the professional studio to the home environment.
CINEMA
DSP HD3 — Lots of letters, lots of audio performance.
As Yamaha's latest evolution of CINEMA DSP, CINEMA DSP HD3 uses four
Quad CINEMA DSP engines and permits lossless decoding of 192kHz
signals, while providing 3D processing that gives the sound field an
extra vertical dimension. In its full 11-channel configuration setting,
it adds two presence and two rear presence speakers, offering the
enjoyment of a completely new sound stage. Complementing CINEMA DSP HD3
are SILIENT CINEMA and Virtual CINEMA DSP. SILENT CINEMA makes it
possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary
headphones! This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha
developed to let you listen in private to movies and other
multi-channel sources for hours without listening fatigue. Virtual
CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy the effects of CINEMA DSP surround sound
without using surround speakers (handy for use in custom installations
where some rooms don't have surround speakers). It can be used with the
front / center / presence speakers or even with just the two front left
and right speakers.

Taking the experience of your portable audio at home one step further,
the RX-Z11 features compressed audio restoration technology. Most
portable audio formats — like MP3, for example —
are compressed audio formats. This means that some audio information
(usually higher and lower frequency information) has been removed in
order to shrink the file, allowing you to fit more songs into the same
memory space. Your RX-Z11's sophisticated digital signal processing
with exclusive algorithms enable playback that improves the performance
of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed
Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother,
bringing music back to life and as close to the original as possible.

Your
RX-Z11 tailors itself to your room, your system
Using YPAO automatic system calibration technology, your new RX-Z11
automatically optimizes your audio system's performance to the
acoustics of your listening area. With a small microphone and
sophisticated equalization technology, YPAO first checks the speaker
connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which
are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a
variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the
speakers and even the sound pressure level until it achieves the best
sound conditions for your room. Six YPAO settings can be held in memory
and recalled via two system memory buttons on the remote control.
The
hi-def connection
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Yamaha's RX-Z11
features five HDMI inputs and two outputs. HDMI (High-Definition
Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics
that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and
uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p,
1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of
sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems
automatically configure to display that content in the most effective
format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is
only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device.
No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater
system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI
supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus
multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully

Four
zones multiply your audio experience
Spread the audio experience around. Intelligent assignable amplifier
technology delivers bi-amping and multi-zone control of your system
from the helm at your new RX-Z11. Zone 2 is capable of component and
composite video output as well as coaxial and optical digital audio
output, and on-screen display of song data and radio informatioin.
Zones 3 and 4 feature only audio output. All zones feature a sleep
timer and mute levels.
